Seeking Board Applications

The Trona Joint Unified School District Board of Education is seeking applicants for the position of board
member to replace Samantha MacLean who is resigning effective June 10, 2024. Ms. MacLean will be
moving out of state with her family.


Qualifications for those interested in serving on the school board are as follows:
Any person is eligible to be a member of the Board of Education, without further qualifications, if
he/she is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of California, a resident of the school district, a
registered voter, and not legally disqualified from holding civil office.  Any person who has been
convicted of a felony involving the giving, accepting, or offering of a bribe, embezzlement or theft of
public funds, extortion, perjury, or conspiracy to commit any such crime, under California law or the
law of another state, the United States of America, or another country, is not eligible to be a
candidate for office or elected as a Board member except when he/she has been granted a pardon
in accordance with law.  (Education Code 35107; Elections Code 20)

name, your statement of eligibility for the position, and your reason for applying for this position.
Applications must be received in the district office located at 83600 Trona Rd., Trona, CA 93562 by
3:30 PM Friday, June 7, 2024.


Applications by eligible citizens will be considered by the Trona Joint Unified School District School
Board at their June 13, 2024 board meeting. Candidates will be interviewed in open session by the
board and an appointment to fill the vacancy will be made that evening. Questions can be directed
